FOCUS

This upcoming week on the Christian calendar is second only to the Christmas story. In fact, of course, there’d be no Holy Week without the actual albeit miraculous birth of Jesus. What this week held & continues to hold for us as we remember it is something no one understood as it was happening & no one today can fully comprehend.

But just because we can’t fully understand & explain it all doesn’t mean we can’t engage with & experience it all. And that’s what we hope to begin to do today.

The Heartache of Holy Week …

1. cannot be denied.

What seemed to be such a very good thing became confusing & chaotic.

John 12:12-19 & 20-36 / Matthew 21:12-17

2. can & should be remembered when our lives seem to fall apart.

Walking away before Sunday morning is the ultimate tragedy & loss.

John 18 & 19

Making It Real

1] Can you see that the heartache that week was real, deep & undeniable?

2] Do you find yourself strangely comforted & encouraged knowing you’re not alone in

your heartache, confusion, anger & grief even as one of His followers too?

Action Step

Read John chapters 18 & 19 a few times this coming week. Ask God to bring

you into the story in a way that brings peace to you in your story today.

Benediction

Now go in the peace & power of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
